People Talk is a response to the Legault government's Bill 96, legislation which in 2022 introduced dubious means to 'protect and promote' the French language in the Canadian province of Quebec.

This series offers portraits of Quebec citizens of different language, cultural and ethnic identities sharing their thoughts on Bill 96.

“It’s important that we don’t put all cultures on the same level; that’s why we oppose multiculturalism. We prefer to concentrate on what we call interculturalism, where we have one culture, the Quebec culture, and we try to integrate newcomers. I think new people coming to Quebec add to our culture, but it’s important to have culture where we integrate, especially to our language.”

- Francois Legault leader of the Coalition Avenir Québec
